1) What file formats can I upload?
Depending on the product you are ordering, at WhiteWall you can upload the following file formats:
- JPG, TIFF for all other products (Photo Prints, Metal Prints, Acrylic Photo Prints, Canvas, etc.)
Uploading RAW files is not supported. These are, as the name suggests, still raw files that need to be processed with software. Save your processed files as a JPG or TIFF to upload them here.

Your file can use either RGB or CMYK.
To top3) Are embedded color profiles supported?
Naturally, WhiteWall supports embedded color profiles (sRGB, AdobeRGB, eciRGB, etc.) and correctly processes them.
To top4) What color depth should I use?
You can upload files with 8-bit or 16-bit color.
To top5) How large can my image file be produced?
You will be shown the formats and sizes that can be produced in high quality, based on the resolution of the uploaded image file. If a size is too large for your image file, it will not be offered.
To top6) How big can my image file be?
At WhiteWall, there is a maximum file size of 2 Gigabyte per image file.
You should always use the maximum resolution available to you, and not compressed image files. We accept files that are at least 700 x 700 pixels. The maximum size is 625 megapixels (up to 50,000 pixels per side).

7) Will WhiteWall check my image file after it is uploaded?
We automatically check the resolution of your image file to see if it suitable for the dimensions you want produced. For all products, we simply do not show the formats that are not feasible. Thus, you do not need to worry about whether or not your picture’s resolution is high enough.
Unfortunately, we cannot undertake additional inspection of your image file for aspects such as focus, contrast, errors in the image, etc.
8) Will my file be processed in any way?
We offer optional, automatic image optimization for our exposure or printing. If you select this, your file will be automatically processed. Monitor displays are often very bright, and in comparison, photo prints and giclee prints can be seen as too dark or not as vibrant. Our optimization makes automatic adjustments for this. We recommend activating this option if you have not made your own adjustments for printing or developing the photo.
If you deactivate this option, your file will not be changed by us. You can change this setting in the shopping cart at the end of your order.
For Photo Books created with our online software, you will also find this option in the shopping cart. If you use our downloadable software for Windows, this option will be under “Start → Image Optimization.”
To top9) How do I find the best size for my photo?
It depends on numerous factors. For starters, it depends on the resolution of your image file. We automatically check this after your upload, so that you are only shown formats that will work with your image file. Additionally, the viewing distance to the picture on the wall is important. Our general rule of thumb: the viewing distance = twice the diagonal measurement. The further viewers will generally stand from the picture, the larger it should be. Conversely, if the picture is going hang in a narrow hallway, you should not make it too large, since the viewer will not be able to step back and take it all in. In a small hallway, it would make more sense to have multiple smaller pictures. For pictures above the sofa, however, you should not pick too small a size, since the viewer will always be at a distance. For this a picture can easily be 100 cm or more.
