We create products from premium materials
with meticulous craftsmanship, designed to inspire and endure.
As a photo lab committed to quality and longevity, we consider environmental aspects in our decisions, from material selection and sourcing to production, energy use, and shipping. We continuously review existing processes, evaluate alternatives, and rely on certified systems. Below, we outline the measures we have already implemented.
Key areas of sustainability
Company
We act responsibly, both within our company and in our external relationships. This includes clear processes, fair business practices, and a respectful approach to working together. We are systematically integrating environmental and social considerations into our supply chain while fostering a company culture built on respect, openness, and trust.
Environment
We take our responsibility for the environment seriously and reduce our impact wherever we can make a meaningful difference. We continuously look for ways to save energy, reduce waste, and use alternative materials and technologies. With a practical approach and a clear view of what is achievable, we are helping to shape a more sustainable future.
Commitment
For us, sustainability also means empowering people and communities. Our focus is in the field of photography, where supporting young talent is particularly important to us. By signing the Diversity Charter, we also commit to an open and respectful environment. This applies both within our team and beyond.
Our Certifications: ISO 14001 & ISO 50001
Sustainability is more than an aspiration for us. We regularly have our actions independently reviewed. That is why our manufacturing facility is certified to ISO 14001 for the development, production, and distribution of photo and print products (Environmental Management, Certificate No. 35770/11-24_c) and to ISO 50001 (Energy Management, Certificate No. 50226/11-24).
As part of these certifications, we assess the relevant environmental and energy aspects of our own processes, as well as selected upstream and downstream activities. Both certifications are issued by an independent, accredited certification body and are confirmed annually through external audits.
For our customers, this means working with a photo lab that combines quality with responsibility in a transparent, verifiable, and future-focused way.

Responsibility starts with the material
Our photo lab is certified according to the standards of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) (FSC® C101851). This certification confirms that we comply with defined environmental and social standards throughout the wood fiber supply chain, from sourcing to production. For wood, cardboard, and paper materials, we therefore use FSC®-certified products whenever they are available through our suppliers. Since part of our wood and cardboard materials is covered by other recognized certifications, the share of FSC®-certified products may vary. Whether a specific product is FSC®-certified is indicated in the shopping cart.

Sustainability requires transparency
For us, sustainability also means being transparent about what we do.
As part of the CEWE Group, selected WhiteWall activities are included in the group’s reporting. Sustainability reporting is carried out at the level of the CEWE Group.

Sustainability in practice
Products
Our commitment is clear: products of high quality that provide lasting enjoyment. That is why we manufacture in our own production facility in Germany with great care and craftsmanship that can be seen and felt. We carefully select materials to ensure durability and a premium tactile experience.
Even after purchase, we remain at your side: with personal service and tailored advice, we ensure that every product is used and appreciated in the best possible way.
Energy
Our machines are regularly maintained to ensure long-term efficient operation. LED lighting in our production halls provides optimal light with low energy consumption. Through lean production methods, we identify energy losses and implement efficiency measures. Their effectiveness is verified within the ISO 50001 framework. We also use waste heat from our compressed air system to support the heating system. Since 2025, our manufacturing facility and our four own WhiteWall stores have been supplied with 100% renewable electricity according to the provider.
To stay on track, all measures are regularly reviewed and further developed as part of our ISO 50001 energy management system.
Materials
With more than 1,000 possible product combinations, the selection of materials is a key business decision. For our products, we rely on carefully selected raw materials and long-term supplier partnerships. For high-volume materials, we prioritize regional suppliers, followed by suppliers from Germany and, due to location, from the Netherlands. In doing so, we favor short transport routes and regional supply chains.
For wood, cardboard, and paper materials, FSC® certification is indicated on a product or material basis (FSC® C101851). The protective and connecting corners of our hanging rails consist of more than 95% recycled plastic (post-industrial recyclate). In our manufacturing facility, we rely on precise production processes and on-demand production to avoid overproduction.
Waste Logistics & Circular Economy
We carefully separate our waste: paper and cardboard, aluminum, wood, and plastic are collected separately. We also make use of dedicated disposal options for electronic waste, batteries, as well as ink and toner cartridges.
Chemicals generated during the production of real photo prints are stored properly and disposed of by certified specialists. To protect water quality, we regularly send wastewater samples from photo processing for analysis.
Our waste is collected by a certified waste management company that provides annual documentation of disposal and recycling routes. The actual recovery paths vary depending on the waste fraction. This allows us to maintain transparency and review each year where further improvements can be made. In close cooperation with our waste management partner, we continuously work on practical solutions.
Outbound Logistics
WhiteWall ships worldwide. The choice of packaging and shipping provider depends on the product type and order volume. Our top priority is that every artwork arrives safely and undamaged. Each package is calculated on a product-specific basis to reduce packaging volume. We do not currently publish a quantified assessment of the volume saved.
