Short profile

Art and creativity were present in Victoria Zabrodina's life from an early age: "I grew up in a creative family: my grandmother was a piano teacher, my grandfather was an amateur artist, my father was very fond of music in his youth, and now he is engaged in artistic woodcarving. Creativity has always been present in my life, and I've always looked for opportunities for self-expression." After initially working as a legal researcher, she began to devote herself to photography three years ago.

And with success: her work has repeatedly won awards at prestigious international competitions such as the International Photography Awards, the Fine Art Photography Awards and the Prix De La Photographie Paris, and has appeared in fashion magazines such as Italian Vogue.

5 QUESTIONS TO VICTORIA ZABRODINA

Can you tell us a little bit about how you became a photographer?

My love for photography grew out of a hobby - I photographed my youngest son for a family album. I still love those first naive shots. Over time, I became more and more interested in photography, began to study art, studied at affordable lessons from famous photographers and practiced a lot.

Please share something about your images. What is your special interest? How do you choose the colors, composition, themes etc.?

Painting is my main source of inspiration. Each work of art, when carefully studied, can serve as a source of knowledge on color, light, and composition. I learned a lot from the works of great artists, for example: the magnificent light of Rembrandt, the gracefulness of the images of Botticelli, the colors from the canvases of Vermeer, the smoothness of the lines and the impressionism of Van Gogh, Malevich's constructivism - the work of each of them is a treasure for the photographer. You can find certain traits of these authors in my works.

Where does this interest come from?

I grew up in a creative family: my grandmother was a piano teacher, my grandfather was an amateur artist, my father was seriously fond of music in his youth, now he is engaged in artistic woodcarving. Creativity has always been present in my life and I constantly looked for the possibility of self-realization in it.

How do you get inspired? And what inspires you the most? Films, books, or magazines? Or what surrounds you?

Ever since photography entered my life, I have been constantly looking for sources of inspiration. You are absolutely right, the scene from the movie, the glare of the sun on the wall, or the plot of your favorite book – they all of them can inspire. When your heart is open to new knowledge and impressions, they find you everywhere.

What are your plans for the rest of the day?

For me, the best end of the day is spending time with my family. It is also a time for thinking about new creative projects, and my family always supports me in my endeavors.
