1. Authentic emotions and the courage to leave space

The focus should always be on genuine emotions and the honest moments in between. To make feelings tangible for the viewer, it is important to stay close to the action. At the same time, Katharina emphasizes the importance of thoughtful composition: give your images room so the viewer has space to reflect and “breathe.” This can be achieved by using negative space—sometimes the subject occupies only a fifth of the image to fully unfold the scene’s impact.

2. Adapt the color grading to the moment

Colors reflect emotion. Rather than following purely technical rules, Katharina’s guiding principle is: “I adjust the color grading to how the moment felt.” Since authentic, lively moments often convey warmth, a warmer edit is often the right choice. In this way, your photography tells a story that captures the beauty of small details and preserves the atmosphere of the wedding day.

3. The tactile experience in product selection

An image is only complete once it finds its place in a home. When designing a photo book, trust your emotions and consider the tactile quality of the cover.
