WhiteWall wins the TIPA World Award 2026

The international expert jury of the TIPA World Awards has recognized WhiteWall once again this year. Following numerous awards in previous years, WhiteWall wins the prestigious 2026 award in the "Best Photo Lab Service" category for its innovative Shopify integration. The TIPA World Awards are presented annually by 25 editors of leading photography magazines to the world's most innovative photo and imaging products and are among the most significant honors in the industry.

The example of WhiteWall customer James Katsipis from the USA demonstrates how the Shopify integration proves itself in practice. Since last fall, he has been using the integration to successfully sell his work online. What makes the difference for him: the seamless connection between his shop and WhiteWall production. In this interview, he shares insights into his work and his experiences with the Shopify integration:

Could you briefly tell us who you are and what defines your photographic style?

I’m James Katsipis, a fine art photographer born and raised at the "End of the World" in Montauk, New York. For over twenty years, the Atlantic has been my primary source of inspiration, shaping both my life and my work. My photographic style combines technical precision with an emotional observation of nature. I try to capture the raw, cinematic energy of the coast – from Montauk to remote shores worldwide.

When did you start using Shopify, and how would you describe your shop?

I launched my Shopify store two years ago. Before that, I used a different platform. I wanted to create a central hub that integrates both my gallery in Montauk and my online shop. Everything now runs from one place. My online shop is a curated gallery where I offer fine art prints – from the limited edition "Mermaids of Montauk" series to landscapes and my abstract ocean series "Blurz." The design is intentionally clean, allowing the images to tell the story.

How did you manage the shop before using the WhiteWall integration, and how did you discover WhiteWall?

Before the integration, management was very labor-intensive. I managed files manually, coordinated with printers, and organized shipping myself. Prints often arrived damaged, which was a major distraction from my actual work. WhiteWall has an excellent reputation in the photography industry. When I saw their acrylic and aluminum mountings, I knew immediately that this was the quality my work required. Plus, they package the works securely for shipping.

How easy was it to integrate WhiteWall into your Shopify store? Has it changed your workflow?

The integration was very easy and seamless. Now the entire process is automated: an order is forwarded directly to production and then shipped. I no longer have to act as a middleman. This gives me the freedom to focus on photography again, while the background process runs reliably.

The biggest advantage is the elimination of human error. Previously, there were many manual steps where things could go wrong – entering addresses, selecting materials, or transferring files. Now, the integration handles these tasks automatically. This has significantly changed my workflow: I save time and money, and I can refocus on my creative work. What advice would you give to other photographers or artists considering selling their work through WhiteWall with Shopify?

How important is it for you to offer high-quality prints on demand without holding inventory?

Extremely important. In Montauk or New York, space is limited. Having no inventory saves space and costs. Furthermore, "on demand" means that each piece is produced individually for the buyer, which adds extra value.

Do you also ship outside the USA? How important are reliable fulfillment and international shipping options?

Yes, I ship worldwide. For US customers, for example, reliability is key – they expect a premium product to arrive in perfect condition. With WhiteWall’s global logistics network, the worry of prints getting stuck in customs or being damaged is eliminated.

Which of your photos should definitely be printed and hung up?

Any image that evokes feelings. If I don't have a connection to an image myself, my collectors won't either. My goal is to translate fleeting moments of my life into visual experiences so that viewers can establish an emotional connection.
