Is my metal print ready to hang?
Yes. Each metal print comes with a mount attached to the back, and you can choose between a metal rail system and a wall peg.
How is a direct print on aluminium Dibond made?
With direct printing, the image is printed directly onto the composite panel. The colours are reproduced vividly. This method provides a cost-effective way to start creating aluminium Dibond prints.
Should I choose aluminium Dibond or acrylic glass?
The choice depends on the look you’re after. Classic aluminium Dibond has a matt, understated finish, whilst acrylic glass renders colours more vividly and lends the image greater depth. WhiteWal produces both in gallery quality. If the photograph is to be displayed in a damp environment, we recommend direct printing onto aluminium Dibond.
Which photos would look best as metal prints?
Classic aluminium is suitable for most subjects. It renders colours with a matt finish that looks true to life. Brushed aluminium, on the other hand, gives light and white areas of the image a metallic sheen. It is particularly well suited to cityscapes and architectural photographs. We recommend lamination for subjects rich in detail: the UltraHD print reproduces fine details, and Ilford black-and-white paper is ideal for black-and-white photographs.
What’s the difference between direct print and photo print on aluminium Dibond?
With direct printing, the image is printed directly onto a durable aluminium Dibond panel, making it ideal for bathrooms and sheltered outdoor areas. In lamination, a classic photo print is mounted onto the panel, combining the detail of premium photo paper with the stability of Dibond. Direct prints are available in a choice of finishes: classic aluminium (matte) or brushed aluminium (with a metallic shimmer in light areas).
Which options can I choose for my metal print?
With direct printing, you can choose between classic matt-finish aluminium and brushed aluminium, which gives your design a metallic effect. Three types of lamination paper are available, as well as UltraHD printing for highly detailed designs. We can also complement the print with a bespoke, handcrafted frame on request.
